Radon Testing

Radon is an odorless, tasteless, and colorless gas formed by the natural radioactive breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Radon is all around us.  The radon outdoors is diluted by fresh air, but radon can penetrate any type of building and become trapped resulting in occupant exposure to high radon levels.

Radon gas decays into radioactive particles that can get trapped in your lungs when you breathe the air around you. As these particles break down further, they release small bursts of energy.  This energy can damage lung tissue and lead to lung cancer over the course of a lifetime.  The only way to know the radon concentration in your home is to conduct a test!

Passive Test A Charcoal Canister is the most widely used testing device because it is accurate, reliable, and consistent. RAdata sells self service charcoal canisters as well as is licensed to start and stop a charcoal canister test in your home.

Active Radon Monitor A continuous radon monitor is typically used in a real estate transaction or when radon levels are being elusive. The advantage is that in addition to measuring the radon gas entering the house it measures barometric pressure, humidity, etc. which allows a buyer to see if radon levels were artificially lowered by not following closed house conditions. RAdata or a trusted home inspector can be hired to place a continuous radon monitor test.
